Clearance sale !!! Mizuno MX-200 Irons $349 for sale with free shipping !

August 16th, 2010

The Mizuno MX-200 Iron’s sees Grain Flow Forged forgiveness takes a huge step forward with the introduction of Y-Tune. A milled deep pocket cavity – that keeps the MX-200’s one piece feel intact – enhances the large sweet area even further. This allows the sweet area to match the miss hit patterns of amateur golfers. The MX-200 is the iron for both amateurs and professionals with a solid hitting area combined with an aggressive sole design. Mizuno’s MX-200 matches cast irons for forgiveness and increases the effectiveness of the sweet area by moving it towards the toe area of the club giving extra distance even on mishits. The X-200 iron proves that forged irons can be as playable as cast irons for the mid to low handicapper.

The new MX-200 irons with Y-tune technology are a quantum leap forward in forgiving, game improvement irons with the added benefit of unmistakeable Grain Flow Forged feel. Y-Tune technology successfully extends and expands the sweet area of the clubface out towards the toe to deliver amazing forgiveness on mis-hits. Through the use of a reengineered external power bar and inner Y-shaped cavity pad, the MX-200s are tuned for unbelievable forgiveness, great trajectory, and amazing feel. Further enhancing the forgiveness of the MX-200 is a slightly larger clubhead and the creation of a super-deep, milled pocket that creates a lower, deeper center of gravity, and delivers an easy, high launch. The MX-200 irons with Y-Tune Technology are unmatched in the industry for game improvement forgiveness and solid forged feel.

Innovative Y-Tune Technology provides a massive sweet area for unsurpassed forgiveness. Grain Flow Forged, 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel provides the ultimate soft, solid, consistent feel. Durable double nickel chrome plated finish Modified U-grooves produce the ideal spin rate for maximum playability in all conditions.

Mizuno MX-200 Irons $349 for sale with free shipping !

The Mizuno MX-200 Irons are a big improvement on the MX-25 Irons. Not only do they look better but the Y-tune design on the back of the head does make them very forgiving. The other major benefit is that the trajectory is excellent throughout the set and the ball does not balloon off the face despite the cavity pocket on the back of the club head. This weighting does mean that the lofts on the Mizuno MX-200 irons are a little stronger than the corresponding MP irons. However the feel is almost as good as the MP irons as the forged heads offer great feedback combines with lots of confidence from the oversized heads. We really like the short irons where the cavity has been reduced and is covered up to give a sleek look and great feedback. The Mizuno MX-200 irons are one of the best forged irons around for mid handicappers so try them out!

The Mizuno MX 200 is the perfect club for the higher handicapper who doesn’t want his irons too big. The increasing size of irons for the less able golfer these days can make you feel like you are the last kid at school to have stabilisers on their bike when you pull them out of the bag. Mizuno’s brilliant design means that feeling is less obvious but you don’t lose anything in forgiveness or consistency. Even on mishits I found the ball would travel without too great a loss of either distance or accuracy. I found the Mizuno MX 200’s a pleasure to hit right the way through the bag.

Foreign Holidays a Time for Family Bonding

August 15th, 2010

Foreign holidays a time for family bonding

A travel company survey has found that one in five families spend an hour or less together each day at home but on foreign holidays 87 per cent enjoy four hours or more having fun.

The pressures of modern day living have created a situation where the family holiday is more significant than ever as 99 per cent of British families say it is ‘an important or very important’ time to bond together. Meals at home have also suffered: the survey showed the average family share only six meals a week together compared to 12 on holiday.*
Club La Costa Resorts & Hotels recognises the importance of family time together. It has 22 resorts in UK, Spain, Tenerife and Austria where the focus is fully on family fun, from the activities programmes around the poolside and its on resort ‘Team Marina’ for kids, to organised excursions. Resorts are totally family-friendly with well-equipped self-catering accommodation, as well as restaurants on site, impeccable housekeeping and maintenance.

Safety and health are also priorities. A doctor’s surgery is located in the grounds of its multiple resorts on the Costa del Sol and considerable investment is made in security. It is also the only timeshare company in Europe to be BSI audited to quality standard ISO9000:20001 for Marina del Sol Management S.L.U. at four of its resorts, with plans to achieve this throughout its entire operation.

‘We are committed to exceeding the expectations of our 50,000 member families and all staff are encouraged to go that extra mile to ensure the experience is memorable for all the right reasons,’ said Richard Fletcher, Resorts Management Director. ‘When families have saved all year to come on their annual holiday together, we have an obligation to ensure they have the best time ever.’

Catering for families’ needs has made a huge contribution to Club La Costa’s success since it was first formed in 1984, with more family-style resorts planned for Spain and Turkey as part of its ambitious expansion programme over the next two years.

However, it is also recognised that in addition to their main family holiday, members opt for other short breaks, often with friends. This can apply to groups of golfing mates, or other shared interests, and adults simply wanting quality time by themselves.

A survey among a nationally representative sample of 1,847 people in the UK over the age of 16, carried out by Tickbox.net, discovered 27 per cent take short breaks with friends and 10 per cent admitted they do it for time away from their partner and/or family.

Almost 50 per cent of those surveyed preferred to take a break in the British countryside. Club La Costa’s UK resorts all enjoy tranquil rural settings. They include the splendid Duchally Country Estate in the heart of Scotland. With its five-star standard leisure centre and proximity to top class golf courses, including Gleneagles, trout and salmon waters, clay pigeon shooting, Scottish whisky distilleries… it’s an obvious short-break choice.

Also the company’s two resorts in Cornwall: luxurious and modern Hustyns at Wadebridge and historic Trenython Manor near Fowey, offer fabulous scenery, sumptuous spa facilities, fine dining and are spoilt for choice for golf courses and things to do in their local areas.

Mizuno Mx200 Irons Best Sale Price And Review

Mizuno MX200 Irons Review

For 3 years I played Mizuno MX 23 clubs. I got my handicap down to 14 and figured it was time for a “players” set of clubs. I settled on a set of Callaway X20 Tours. For all of last season, I struggled to break 90.

I have played a few rounds this year and decided a change was needed. I went to a online Golf Sale Store, and they recommend the new Mizuno MX 200 irons to me. Since they offer free shipping and the best price on t Mizuno MX 200 irons for only $368.99, I bought the clubs immediately.  I tried the clubs right after their arrivial.  About five swings, I realised what I was missing. I hit each ball straight, high and where I aimed; something that I haven’t been able to do all year. I didn’t bother hitting any of the other clubs, I simply arranged a custom fit for Thursday for the MX 200s. These are seriously easy clubs to hit.

I have also read a lot about the comparison between these and the MX23s. When you look at the two clubs, there is not much different. Maybe my view is coloured by the year with the Callaways, but I believe that these are easier to hit than the MX23s.

At my level of golf, I am not interested in “working the ball” and I believe any golfer in the mid-teen and up handicap level that talks about moving the ball is basically talking crap and maybe if they concentrated on hitting the ball straight, their handicaps may come down.

I have to believe that any of the bad reviews of these clubs are simply down to the man at the other end of the club, I know that if I persisted with the Callaways, I am sure that they would have come round, but I just don’t have the time for that effort. Therefore if you are like me, you have kids, work and want to enjoy your Sunday fourball at a low teens handicap level (or better if your ability is better than mine) with little or no effort, then have a serious look at these Miuno MX200 Irons.

Pros and Head Covers

August 15th, 2010

If the head covers can talk, they would have more words to tell. You should know that every head cover can reveal the personality of a golfer as well as the styles and basics. The pros have their own distinct head covers that serve as trusty mascots. These bag buddies remind them of home, their sense of style and the love of family.

Tiger Woods The nickname “Tiger” was given to him by his father. It’s the same nick-name of a South Vietnamese combat buddy, Nguyen Phong, who saved Tiger’s father’s life during the Vietnam War. Tiger Woods’ mother handmade his club head cover. The words “Love from Mom,” in Thai, are stitched on it. No surprise the only head cover to actually speak is Tiger’s, another overachiever. Nike produced a series of ads featuring Tigers famous mascot, Frank. In a rare interview in USA Today, we learn more.

Sergio Garcia No surprise this Spaniard chooses the “Toro” as his bag tag-along. “These head covers, a black bull for the driver and a brown bull for the 3-wood, remind me of my home in Spain,” said Garcia.

Ernie Els South African golfer and wine-maker Ernie Els had his kids pick out his head covers. This lion and warthog are equally at home in Africa as they are traveling around the world with one of the worlds best golfers.

Ian Poulter  Ian Poulter isn’t just an excellent golfer. He’s also gained fame for making a fashion statement. The Englishman, known for wearing a pink shirt and pink pants, had his caddie tote a pink bag that listed on Poulter’s website. His head cover is a caricature of himself, with spiked hair and a visor. When asked about his pink fashion choices and his website address on the bag, he said: “It can only help. I’m a noticeable character out there anyway, everybody knows that.”

Richard Green Richard Green carries an Australian symbol, the wallaby, which is native to his homeland. The Tammar wallaby was the first kangaroo-type of animal seen by Westerners. It was discovered in 1629 by the crew of a Dutch ship stranded near the Wallaby Islands. One hundred and forty years later Captain Cook officially discovered the kangaroos when he landed in Australia.

Tim Clark Tim Clark has a penguin named Henry that keeps him company. Tim is another South African who enjoys animals. His fan club is called the Safari Club, and you can find photos of Henry in the photo gallery.

It’s a virtual Animal Farm on the PGA Tour. Imagine if these animals could talk? There may very well be room for a golf head cover reality talk show. Think “American Idol” meets the PGA Tour meets Oprah or . . . maybe not. Maybe it’s best to stick with the visuals and let the head covers keep their secrets.

Multi-purpose 5 Iron

August 15th, 2010

I firmly believe that there should be a 5 iron tournament! One club, one ball, one golfer and his wits.No bulky bags to manage, prancing nymph-like freely along the fairways and whistling Dixie through a cheese-filled Brady Bunch smile…Ya Right! You see, I have done it. (Prancing and Dixie whistling and Brady Bunch smile excluded, usually.)

When I was younger my father advised me to practice my game using what he called “the most versatile club in your bag”.”This club can do just about anything, I mean anything” he would articulate wisely.Feeling somewhat like the kid in the kung-fu series , I would reply, “What do you mean (master)?”.”Well” he would reply, a deep look of serious contemplation resting on his right eyebrow. “If you play the ball off your left foot and tilt the shaft back, you can simulate the 7, 8 and 9 irons”. Flabbergasted, I made no retort but stood like a wide-eyed bunny rabbit seconds prior to becoming roadkill.”Ya”, he would continue, his voice becoming more animated as he mistook my fear for enthusiasm, “And if you play the ball off your right foot and slightly close the face, she acts like a putter”.He eagerly gazed upon my countenance awaiting some sign of revelation.

Not wanting to appear rude, after all he seemed to feel like he had just imparted some golf holy grail secret and was expecting a sniper to “take him out” from the clubhouse toilet window for his act of disobedience. I responded the only way possible.”Huh?” The sound kind of forced its way out. “Ahem, that’s interesting” I cajoled, hoping it would make him stop.”And”….he paused…his head glancing at the toilet window just to be sure, “If one plays two good 5 irons from center position one can easily match the best drive” he finished, like an awestruck kid talking about his new shiny bicycle. There was a long silence as we stood with our eyes locked like two gunfighters preparing to draw. Then, he handed me a 5 iron, winked wisely and walked away.

I don’t remember how many rounds I played with just a 5 iron, but it was one of the best pieces of advice I have ever received concerning the game.My whole game improved and upon returning to my full set to play a round, I noticed a vast improvement in my technique. So, come on guys…Play 5 iron 4 ball this Saturday and test your skill !!!

Four Big Leaguers Show How Baseball Skills Translate Into Big Drives And Low Scores

August 15th, 2010

PAUL O’NEILL
Reds, Yankees
MLB seasons: 17
Career numbers: .288 avg., 281 home runs, 2,105 hits
All-Star teams: 5
Handicap: 9
Golf talk: “I won the long-drive competition at the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe with a 357-yard bomb. It was fun.”

Get it Right at the Top
The Fault
When I played baseball, I tried to make a level or slightly descending swing most of the time. That placed my left elbow (the right elbow for righties) in a high, flying position. I see this frequently in golfers I play with and it makes it hard to get the club in a good position on the downswing. The typical result is poor impact and weak shots.

The Fix
I always think “fold” at the top of the backswing to get my left elbow tucked into the proper position and keep it from flying too high. When I do this it’s easy for me to make a confident downswing because I know the club will come down on the proper plane. Try it for yourself if you’re not making solid contact.

MIKE PIAZZA
Dodgers, Mets, and others.
MLB seasons: 16
Career numbers: .308 avg., 427 home runs, 2,127 hits
All-Star teams: 12
Handicap: 14
Golf talk: “I once flew the ball into the hole on a 310-yard dogleg right par-4. It was easily the best shot I’ve ever hit in my life.”

Whip it Good
The Fault
I’ve had my clubhead speed measured when I’m swinging well and it’s well over the PGA Tour average. But when I’m not swinging as well I feel myself trying to hit at the ball too much, which is a mistake a lot of amateur players make.

The Fix
Instead of trying to swing the club down with a strong, hitting motion, I think about creating a lot of whip action down into the ball. If you think about swinging the club fast instead of trying to hit at the ball you’ll get a lot more clubhead speed. In the picture you can see I’ve got a lot of energy stored up as I approach impact. That’s the key to distance

KEN GRIFFEY JR.
Mariners, Reds, White Sox
MLB seasons: 21 (and counting)
Career numbers: .285 avg., 630 home runs, 2,762 hits
All-Star teams: 13
Handicap: 8
Golf talk: “I didn’t start playing golf until ‘94, when the strike cut the season short. Never having played as a kid definitely makes it a challenge.”

Extend to Go Deep
The Fault
Baseball and golf have a lot of things in common, including the fact that players in both games love hitting for power. However, in both sports, trying to do so strictly with muscle strength doesn’t work very well. In fact, I see a lot of guys in both baseball and golf struggle when they try to swing with tight arms.

The Fix
My key to going deep on the course is to take a long, low backswing that lets me get both arms fully extended. Folding your arms too early in the backswing is a mistake. If you want more power, think about achieving full extension on both sides of the ball. If your arms are tense in either place you’ll lose speed and power.

JOHN SMOLTZ
Braves, Red Sox, Cardinals
MLB seasons: 21 (and counting)
Career numbers: 213 wins, 154 saves, 3,084 strikeouts, 3.33 ERA
All-Star Teams: 8
Handicap: 0
Golf talk: “I’m serious about trying to play the Champions Tour. It will obviously be a huge challenge, but I don’t have a problem with that.”

Visualize the Target
The Fault
One of the biggest challenges on the mound, and on the golf course, is proper aim. We’ve all hit solid shots that miss the target because our alignment was poor, which is often due to a lack of focus.

The Fix
When I’m pitching I always focus hard on my target before I go into my windup. I recommend doing the same thing in your preshot routine. Lock in on your target before you assume your setup, and then again right before you start your swing. Keep the image clearly in your mind and you’ll throw strikes every time

Callaway X-20 Irons Help You Perform Better

August 15th, 2010

The X series is all about giving serious golfer total performance with enhanced forgiveness for the ultimate in confidence. Callaway’s X-20 Irons deliver in every way by delivering technology, innovation and playability that will take your game to a new level. With its traditional styling and Callaway Golf core technologies, this iron provides the performance and forgiveness to play the game with enhanced confidence.

 Features:

1. Extreme Notch Weighting: Redistributes weight to the extreme perimeter of the iron for incredible MOI.
  2. Progressive Wall Reduction System: Lowers the center of gravity for improved feel and playability.
  3. Patented Callaway Golf Core Technologies: VFT Technology maximizes ball speed and perimeter weighting for more distance and forgiveness; S2H2 increases discretionary weight by removing it from the hosel and repositioning it in the perimeter of the clubhead; Tru-Bore provides improved feel and clubhead control

4. Degree Undercut Channel maximizes perimeter weighting by moving the CG lower and farther back in the clubhead, enlarging the hitting area and stabilizing the clubhead for more forgiveness.

Here’s some comments the golfers who are keen in the Callaway’s X-20.

Callaway X-20 Irons gives a soft feel on impact to the club face. It has a wide sweet spot and is easy to use for most intermediate and beginner. It’s very forgiving and develops more distance off of each club. It absorbs a lot of the shock which is good. For a thirteen year old kid like me I can hit the 9-iron 100 yards off the tee. Which surprises other people. Because of these clubs I can hit farther with my old kid clubs. I highly recommend these clubs to those beginner adults or teens who want to play golf.
First off let me say that I am a high school golfer and one of the best in the county. I have had the x20s in my bag for 2 seasons now and they are fantastic. They are solid and crisp no matter where you hit them on the face. They are great GAME IMPROVEMENT irons that any player can pick up and play. They have a nice look at address and are pretty looking clubs. They have brought my handicap from 30+ to just about 12 in two years. They are great clubs for anyone to use. However, they are not forged clubs and working the ball with them is a bit more difficult then blades. They have a great feel but it does not compare to the feel of a forged club. But in reality, how many players can successfully use blades. The x20s can be had for a cheap price in today’s market and I highly recommend them to any player.

Visually Pleasing Silent Auction Fundraiser Tables

August 14th, 2010

There is nothing more frustrating than attending a silent auction fundraiser where auction items have been haphazardly displayed. Visually pleasing auction tables are a high priority! You want bidders to get excited about the

items you are displaying. Your goal is to encourage people to bid on items – not pass them by.

How you set up auction tables depends on the actual number of auction items and the amount of space you have to work with. Go out to your venue and physically pre-determine where you are going to set up silent auction tables. Do a configuration of how you want to place the tables and make sure you allow plenty of “elbow room.”

It is wise to set up “mock” tables before the day of the event to show how you want the auction items arranged. When arranging mock tables, remember to place a bid sheet beside or in front of each item. Bid sheets are printed on 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper and take up a fair chunk of space on the table.

Collect or cut out 8 1/2″ x 11″ pieces of cardboard in case you need to “mount” a bid sheet, e.g., when displaying a picture on a wall, hang the bid sheet with a cardboard backing from the picture itself. The cardboard backing gives bidders a hard surface to write on. Use ribbon, raffia, or twine to attach the bid sheet to auction items. (Use a foldback clip to attach the bid sheet to the cardboard.)

Tables are normally 6 or 8 feet long and 4 feet wide. You can use both sides of a 4-foot-wide table to display items, as long as the tables are not pushed up against a wall. Use tulle, painted cardboard scenes, fabric, stars, shapes, etc., as dividers down the center of tables, to utilize both sides of the length of the tables.

If tables are pushed up against a wall, use easels, stands, etc., behind the tables or use the wall itself to display items, e.g., pictures and sculptures.

Depending on the number of items you have collected, you can either place items sporadically or sort them into specific categories such as food/dining, jewelry, spa/health/fitness, sports, travel, children, etc.

Drape fabric over your auction tables to make them look more appealing. Fabric stores will often lend you a bolt or two of material in exchange for a mention in your evening’s program.

“Skirting” the silent auction tables is an alternative to using fabric. Hotels, restaurants, and golf clubs normally have an abundance of skirting and table linens on hand. Make sure you pre-arrange skirting and linens with the venue coordinator.

If you cannot get your hands on fabric, skirting, or table linens, use a roll of newsprint from the art room at the local school. Get students (or parent volunteers) to paint a theme on the paper and tape it around the tables. You can get creative with artwork, it all depends on your theme! (This idea is great when doing a school fundraiser. Get the kids involved!)

If using fabric or table linens, place small-to-medium sized boxes UNDER the fabric to make “display stands” for auction items. For example: a set of earrings would be more noticeable displayed higher than other items. It is also wise to keep “original” gift certificates with the event cashier(s) and display “mock” certificates in plexi-frames on the silent auction tables.

By using fabric, skirting, and/or newsprint, you not only make your tables more appealing, you create space under the tables for hiding boxes, bags, packaging, etc. (This space comes in very handy for volunteers’ purses, water bottles and shoes from sore feet!)

People like to SEE and FEEL what they are bidding on! Never display items in their original packaging, e.g., take the toaster out of the box and put a couple slices of bread in it!

Auction items don’t necessarily have to be placed on tables – utilize floor space, easels, room dividers, etc., when planning your layout. Get creative and arrange plants, furniture and other large auction items in groupings. (Make sure you have individual bid sheets attached to the items so bidders know they are part of the auction!) When displaying lamps, try to locate them near a plug – they look so much more appealing lit up.

Cello-wrapped wine, food, and spa baskets are great in auctions, although you don’t want an overabundance of them. If it is difficult to see what is inside a particular basket, list the contents so that guests know what they are bidding on.

It is also important to ensure auction items are in good shape, clean, and in proper working order, e.g., batteries in the flashlight!

As a final touch place tea lights, sparkles or colored glitter on auction tables to help create a theme or enhance the ambiance.

After ensuring the auction tables are properly set up, it is a good idea to have volunteers man the tables. They will keep an eye on the bid sheets, ensure the bid increments are being placed correctly and answer any questions the bidders may have. In essence, the volunteers become the “salespeople” of the visually pleasing auction tables you have taken so much time and effort to set up!
